Have you moved?
I moved September 1st to a new town in a new Province in Canada.
I'm going to be perfectly honest with you...
...I really dislike moving.
Although is was exciting thinking about moving, there are many things that I find unpleasant.
All the packing, the pairing down of items I haven't used since my last move...
...the unpacking & organizing...
...and it costs money...lots of money.
Money for the moving truck, gas for said truck, hooking up new utilities...
...if you've sold your house there are realtor fees, lawyer fees and the cost to buy a new house.
If you rent there is damage deposit to pay.
What I do love is my new house and the small town vibe.
I love the relaxation of no traffic and being able to walk everywhere.
I love the friendliness of everyone in town.
So the move was totally worth it!
How does this relate to a business you might be thinking?
People love the idea of starting a business but don't like the work it takes or the money it costs.
When you plan a move you can't put your notice in on your rental or sell your house and then do nothing.
The ball is a rollin'.
If you stop then you become homeless with nowhere to put your stuff.
Why don't people treat their business like a move?
Once you start set a date and a budget for where you want to be in 30 days, 3 months, 6 months, etc.
Pursue it as if you can't quit or slow down because...
...like a move you have to see it through.
If you don't see your business through the somewhat difficult and frustrating start up period then...
...your only other choice is staying at the job you absolutely hate or...
...keep making the same money that isn't covering your bills now.
When you start a business there are certain start up costs...
* Money to join a program
* Advertising
* The time to educate yourself
It's actually fairly simple to do but it does take time and a financial commitment.
