Grant money is now available for small businesses effected by COVID 19 pandemic
Take advantage of this time sensitive grant program that President Biden put in place
under the CARES Act, a program called Employer Retention Credit (ERC).
President Biden has provided a stimulus program to help small businesses recover from
COVID-19. ERC is a refundable credit in the form of a grant and can refund up to $26,000
per employee ($10,000 is the average for companies that received PPP). Do the Math!
Essentially all businesses qualify for this program. Unlike PPP loans, this program does
not require a business to show a decline in revenue. If a business does have a decline in
revenue, the grant is automatic. Oh, I'm sorry, did I not mention this program is funded from
grant money. You do not have to pay it back. Plus there is no fee to apply.
To qualify for this grant, the small business must have the following
- at least 5 to 500 W2 employees
- No Independent Contractors (NEC/MISC-1099)
-documents from periods of 2020 to 2021
-process time takes 3 – 6 months
If a business received PPP, they can still apply for the ERC program. Like I said, this is
a time sensitive program that ends July 23, 2023.
As a seasoned tax preparer, this is a legit program. So if you know ANY local small business
that could benefit from the ERC program, please pass along this information. We have
to help small business locally and get the word out anyway we can.
