Understanding Your Link Rotator Tracking Report
Published 09-04-2026

Have you ever looked at your Link Rotator tracking report and wondered

what the From, IP, and Date information means?

A link rotator allows you to send visitors from one main URL to different

destination pages. Your tracking report then gives you useful information

about the people clicking your rotator link.

Here’s what each section means:

From — Where Did the Visitor Come From?

The From field shows the website, page, or source that referred the visitor

to your link.

For example, a visitor may have clicked your link from:

  • A social media post
  • An email
  • A website or blog
  • A traffic exchange
  • Another advertising site

If the From field is blank, it usually means the visitor typed the link directly into

their browser, used a bookmark, or their browser did not pass along the referring

information.

Why is this useful?

It can help you identify which traffic sources are sending visitors to your links.

IP — Where Is the Click Coming From?

IP stands for Internet Protocol address. It is an address associated with the

visitor's internet connection.

Your tracking report records the IP address associated with a click. This can help you:

  • Identify unique visitors
  • Look for repeated clicks from the same IP
  • Monitor your traffic activity
  • Identify unusual or suspicious clicking patterns

Keep in mind that an IP address does not necessarily identify a specific person,

and it may represent multiple people using the same internet connection.

Why is this useful?

If you notice a large number of clicks coming from the same IP address within a short

period, it may be worth taking a closer look at that traffic.

Date & Time — When Did They Click?

The Date and Time section shows when someone clicked your rotator link.

This information can help you understand:

  • When your links are getting the most activity
  • Which times of day generate the most clicks
  • When a particular advertisement started bringing in traffic
  • How quickly visitors respond after you post an ad or send an email

For example, if you send an email at 10:00 AM and notice a large increase in clicks

shortly afterward, your tracking report can help you see that activity.

Why Link Rotator Tracking Is Important

One of the biggest advantages of using a link rotator is that you're not simply sending

traffic—you can also track what is happening with your links.

By looking at the From, IP, and Date/Time information, you can get a better

understanding of your traffic and make smarter marketing decisions.

Instead of guessing which advertising methods are working, use your tracking information

to see where your clicks are coming from and when your links are getting the most activity.

Track your clicks. Watch your traffic. Learn what works—and use that information to improve your marketing!
