You Can Clean Your Arteries With EXERCISE
Published 03-23-2020
Almost three hundred years ago, Thomas Sydenham an amazing English physician stated: “a man is as old as his arteries.” Fast forward to the 21st century, this statement is truer than ever and we might like to add that your health is only as good as your arteries, since these blood vessels play an incredibly important role in the body, carrying vital oxygen-rich blood to all your cells.

Now that we’ve established how important arteries are, there are two things you need to know. First, like all other things inside of our body, arteries also need to be kept healthy. Failure to do so can lead to arterial aging which is one of the mechanisms for chronic illnesses such as heart attacks, strokes, dementia, erectile dysfunction and more. (As if we didn’t have a million other problems in the world!)

Causes Of Artery Related Health Issues?

Well, the root cause of this is known as plaque. As plaque begins to form in the arterial wall, the flexibility of the arteries begins to decrease. The arteries become stiff, the pressure within them increase and this then this puts a strain on the heart.

Here comes the good news:

Did you know you can clean arteries naturally? It’s true! Research has found that you can remove plaque from arteries through exercise.

Yes, exercise is an excellent medicine for those with coronary arteries that are stiffened and clogged by cholesterol-filled plaque. Physical activity as simple as walking can help unclog arteries in the legs and make them flexible.

A study conducted in Chicago including 156 residents of Chicago-area emphasized the value of exercising to everyone with this disabling condition and even those without leg pain. The research included six months of supervised treadmill walking. The results showed an improvement in the distance the participants were able to walk in a time span of 6 minutes. It made them feel better, improved the flexibility of arteries and blood flow throughout the body – lowering the chance of heart attack or stroke.

In another study, researchers pooled findings from 10 studies that measured people’s arterial stiffness and daily steps, through a technique known as pulse wave velocity. With every heartbeat, wave of blood travels through the body’s arteries. The pulse wave helps to determine how stiff or flexible arteries are. If the arteries are stiff, the wave will travel faster.

People who were more active (those who took an average of 10,000 steps per day) had the lowest pulse wave measurements, suggesting their arteries were much more flexible than those of less active people. Adding just 1,000 steps daily can help lead to measurable improvements in pulse wave velocity.

In order to clean arteries naturally you don’t have to become a triathlete; just a couple of miles of walking daily is a huge step in the right direction!

And guess what? There is even more good news: It’s never too late to start!
